About this year’s calendar

I instinctively associate each year with a unique texture. My sensory impressions are shaped, in some part, by the external sources — music, books, art — that captivated me the most during each 12-month span.

Below is a quick inventory of the sources that grabbed my attention most significantly this past year. Atop my constant, ever-present influences, these elements undoubtedly left some of their essence on the art I created, including this calendar :)

• The musical compositions of Benjamin Britten (British, 1913–76)
